Paper reel transport

MINDA can carry out the tracking of all paper reels to the corrugator.
The smart MINDA control system keeps an overview which paper reel stand is to be served and also takes care of your balance roll management.
The paper reels can be distributed from a central feeding line to the individual lines of the reel stands by means of a portal carriage.  
The paper reels can either be transported horizontally on plastic chain conveyors being embedded in the floor and with drivable forklifts or via a shuttle system or a transfer car. The reels are turned by 90° via a paper reel turning device being embedded in the floor.

Plastic chain conveyor for horizontal paper reel transport

The plastic chain conveyors embedded in the floor combine a number of advantages for horizontal paper reel transport:

  • Short and long conveyor lines up to 10.00 m possible (longer conveyor lines upon request)
  • Solid plastic chains, drivable by forklift (wheel load 7 t)
  • Easy mounting directly with the forklift truck
  • Compact design, continuous pit depth only 310 mm or installation above floor possible

  • Gentle reel transport, thus less waste

Plastic chain conveyor for vertical paper reel transport

The transport of vertical paper reels on material-protecting plastic chain conveyors is possible as a space-saving transport in many areas.
The vertical paper reels can be positioned or removed by means of a forklift, crane or upender.

  • Space-saving transport to and from paper reel warehouses / high-bay warehouses
  • Material-protecting transport of expensive coating papers

Transfer car

The paper reel transport by means of the transfer car allows centralized feeding of the converting machines as well as the corrugator.

Advantages:

  • Conveying of paper reels from a central warehouse
  • Infeed and discharge provided
  • Replaces fixed conveyor lines for better access to the plant
  • Can be used at fire-protection critical passages
     

Components for paper reel transport

Upender

Paper reels can be erected from a lying position using an upender. However, it is also possible to move standing reels into a lying position via the upender. This component is planned depending on the application.

Preparation area

The preparation area can be located, for example, in the infeed line of the reel stands. It serves to prepare the paper reel for further converting. The paper reel is fully automatically transported to the preparation area and lifted. By rotating around the own axis, the operator can cut off damaged sheets and thus prepare the reel for further converting. This reduces the preparation time and optimizes the process flow.

Weighing equipment

The weighing system can be integrated into the conveyor system. The collected measurement data can be checked or transmitted to a super-ordinated system.

Paper reel rocker

The paper reel rocker is used for levelling in automatic mode to overcome height differences, whereby the paper reel is caught by the rocker and deposited on the paper reel conveyor. 

  • Reel delivery and pick-up are separated
  • Can be realized under space conditions where no forklift truck can be used
  • Compensation of height differences between warehouse and operating site 
     

Control

Complex control of individual intralogistics systems

There is a complex control process behind the flexibility and the size of these intralogistics processes. This process also includes software solutions optimally adjusted to the individual conditions.
They are based on MINDA MoveIT, the control and visualization system for intralogistics programmed by MINDA.
The system coodinates the control of transport sections, floor conveyors and packing devices according to the plans of the ERP system.
This superordinated control based on PC is further internally developed by experienced programmers.
MINDA MoveIT guarantees a fully-automatic operation in all transport sections. The transport operations are optimized so that all storing places are efficiently used.
In the discharge area behind the corrugator the system exactly defines how and in which order and sequence the corrugated cardboard stacks reach the intermediate storage and the converting machines with an optimal utilization of the transport capacity.
These calculations are effected in real time and are the condition for continuous new evaluations of the prioritites of the individual operations.

Complete transport operation

The converting machines are supplied in time with goods for conversion according to the definitions of the ERP systems. After the conversion, the corrugated cardboard stacks are discharged from the machines and fed to the pallet protection. (picture 2) Here the correct pallet type is automatically prepared and the data for the strapping are available. The secured goods reach the finished goods storage and are ready for despatch.
The system flexibly reacts to inputs by the operators. During the entire production process the products can always be identified.
A dynamic visualization of the processes provides the customer an overview of the complete production flow.
